Booking & Availability
Where can I book a home massage in the Algarve?
Book a home massage directly from Massage At Home Lagos in any part of the Algarve! Our certified therapists travel to your villa, hotel or Airbnb across Lagos, Praia da Luz, Carvoeiro, Albufeira, Vilamoura, Portimão, Faro and more than 15 surrounding towns. Fill out our online form or send us a message on WhatsApp (phone +351 920 619 053).
Do you offer same-day massage appointments?
Absolutely, you can get a massage the same day in most of the regions of the Algarve. We operate daily from 9:00 AM to 11:45 PM and confirm most booking requests within minutes. The evenings and weekends during the peak season tend to book up, so it is best to book several hours in advance.
How far in advance should I book?
Same day is likely to be sufficient for appointments during the day on weekdays. We recommend making an advance booking of 1 day or more for evenings, weekends and busy summer months (June through September) to guarantee your desired time and therapist. We are always glad to accept last minute requests and will do our best to meet them.
Which towns and areas do you cover?
We cover the entire Algarve coast, including Lagos, Praia da Luz, Burgau, Salema, Sagres, Vila do Bispo, Portimão, Alvor, Praia da Rocha, Lagoa, Carvoeiro, Albufeira, Almancil, Quarteira, Vale do Lobo, Vilamoura and Faro. If your accommodation is not included, please contact us, as we have hotels, villas and apartments available all over the region.
Can the therapist come to my hotel or holiday rental?
Yes. Frequent visits to hotels, resorts, private villas, apartments and Airbnbs throughout the Algarve. The majority of places will accept registered mobile therapists, but it's best to verify with a call to your hotel reception or property manager. We have all necessary supplies for an entire in-room therapy session.
How do I book — online or WhatsApp?
Both are available for booking. The online booking form allows you to select your service, duration, date, time and payment. WhatsApp (+351 920 619 053) is the quickest for instant confirmation or last minute requests. All bookings are subject to a personal confirmation.
Pricing, Payment & Tipping
How much does a mobile massage in Lagos and the Algarve cost?
The minimum price is €90 for 60 minutes of Swedish massage or relaxing massage of any body part and €130 for 90 minutes. Deep tissue and sports massage start at €100 (60 min) and €140 (90 min). Couples massage begins at €180, a Sunset, Wine & Massage experience costs €200 per person, and The Queen's Retreat (120 min) is with the ladies only and costs €235.
Is there a travel or transport fee?
There is no extra charge for appointments within Lagos. A small transport fee is due depending on the distance, for locations outside of Lagos. The exact amount is always confirmed before booking and there will be no surprises on the day.
How can I pay for my massage?
Cash on arrival or credit and debit card only via our secure online payment gateway. When booking you choose your desired payment method. Cash payments are made directly to your therapist at the end of the session.
Do I need to tip my massage therapist in Portugal?
Tipping is not obligatory in Portugal, but it is appreciated for excellent service. For massage and spa treatments, a tip of around 10–15% is generous and welcome, though rounding up the total is equally acceptable. Tips are best given in cash directly to your therapist, as card-machine gratuities do not always reach them.
Do you require a deposit?
No deposit is required for cash bookings — you pay your therapist at the time of your booking. If you are booking by card, you will be redirected to our secure gateway after you make your booking. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding payment prior to booking, and we will make it clear.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We know that plans for holidays can change. Please inform us of the cancellation/rescheduling as early as possible in advance via WhatsApp or phone and we will do our best to arrange another time that is suitable. We would like to give a lot of notice so that we can clear the slot for other guests.
What to Expect (First-Time Guests)
What happens during a home massage appointment?
Your therapist arrives at your chosen time with a portable massage table, fresh linens, towels and premium oils. They set up in a quiet space you choose, often with relaxing music. After a brief chat about your needs and any problem areas, your treatment begins. Afterwards, the therapist packs everything away and leaves your space as they found it.
What should I wear, and do I need to undress?
Undress only to the level you feel comfortable with. Many guests remove most clothing, while others keep their underwear on — both are completely fine. You are professionally draped with a towel or sheet throughout, and only the area being worked on is ever uncovered. Your comfort and privacy come first.
How much space is needed for the massage table?
A portable massage table needs roughly two metres by one metre of floor space, plus a little room for the therapist to move around it. A bedroom, living room, terrace or covered patio all work well. Easy access and nearby parking help the therapist set up quickly.
Do I need to provide anything?
No. Your therapist brings the massage table, fresh linens, towels and oils. All you need is a quiet space and access to the room. If you prefer your own music or a particular room temperature, just let the therapist know when they arrive.
Is it normal to fall asleep during a massage?
Yes, falling asleep is completely normal and a sign of deep relaxation. Therapists take it as a compliment and continue working quietly. You will not miss out on the benefits — your body still responds fully to the treatment even while you rest.
Should I talk during the massage or stay quiet?
Either is fine — it is entirely your choice. Some guests like to chat, while others prefer silence to fully relax. The most important thing to speak up about is pressure: tell your therapist any time you would like it firmer or lighter, so the session is exactly right for you.
What should I do after my massage?
Drink plenty of water, rest for a while, and avoid heavy meals or intense activity straight afterwards. Light food is ideal, since massage can leave you deeply relaxed. Many guests in the Algarve simply enjoy the rest of their evening feeling calmer and looser.
Massage Types & Services
What is the difference between Swedish and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses long, gentle, flowing strokes to improve circulation and promote full-body relaxation — ideal for stress relief and holiday unwinding. Deep tissue massage applies firmer, more focused pressure to reach deeper muscle layers, targeting chronic pain, stubborn knots and tension built up from sport, travel or daily strain.
Which massage should I choose?
Choose a Swedish or full-body relaxing massage if your goal is to de-stress and unwind. Pick deep tissue for chronic muscle tension or knots, and sports massage to recover after golf, hiking, cycling or water sports. For neck and shoulder strain, try our back tension relief massage. Unsure? Tell us how you feel and we will recommend the best fit.
Can I book a couples massage?
Yes. Our couples massage is performed side by side by two therapists at the same time, so you and your partner relax together. It is a popular choice for honeymoons, anniversaries and romantic Algarve getaways, available in 60-minute and 90-minute sessions.
What is the Sunset, Wine & Massage experience?
The Sunset, Wine & Massage is our signature experience: a side-by-side massage paired with a bottle of wine and a cheese and fruit platter, enjoyed as the sun sets. It is especially popular for honeymoons, anniversaries, proposals and special celebrations along the Algarve coast.
What is The Queen's Retreat Massage?
The Queen's Retreat is a 120-minute, ladies-only luxury ritual designed for complete relaxation of body, mind and soul. It combines premium massage techniques in an elegant, exclusive experience, ideal for guests seeking extended pampering and total calm.
Do you offer sports and recovery massage for active holidays?
Yes. Our sports massage is designed for active travellers — golfers, runners, cyclists, hikers and surfers. It reduces muscle soreness, improves flexibility and supports recovery after exercise, so you can keep enjoying your Algarve holiday feeling fresh.
Therapists, Hygiene & Trust
Are the massages strictly professional and therapeutic?
Yes. Every session is a strictly professional, therapeutic wellness treatment delivered by qualified massage therapists. Our focus is entirely on relaxation, muscle recovery and pain relief. We do not offer any other type of service.
Are your therapists certified and insured?
Yes. All our therapists are professionally trained, certified and fully insured. They keep up with ongoing training and follow strict hygiene standards on every visit, using fresh linens, sanitised equipment and quality oils suitable for sensitive skin.
Is the service private and discreet?
Yes. Your treatment takes place in the privacy of your own accommodation, at a time you choose, with no one else present. We treat every booking with full discretion and respect your privacy at all times.
Is the session sexual or not?
No. It is a professional, not an eroticized treatment with proper draping throughout. Undress as you feel comfortable, and keep covered at all times.
What languages do your therapists speak?
Our therapists communicate comfortably in English and Portuguese, so booking and your treatment are smooth and stress-free whether you are a visitor or a local resident.
Health & Suitability
Are there any reasons I should not get a massage?
Massage is suitable for most people, but it may need adjusting or avoiding in some cases — for example with certain medical conditions, recent surgery, injuries, fever or infections. Always tell your therapist about any health concerns before the session, and check with your doctor if you are unsure.
Can I get a massage during pregnancy?
Massage can be a wonderful comfort during pregnancy, but it requires care and the right technique. Please tell us you are pregnant when booking, including how many weeks, so we can advise on suitability and arrange an appropriately experienced therapist. We always recommend checking with your doctor first.
Can I get a massage if I have sunburn?
We recommend avoiding massage directly on sunburned skin, as it can be painful and irritating. Your therapist can adapt the session to work only on unaffected areas. After a day in the Algarve sun, a gentle full-body relaxing massage on healthy skin is a lovely way to recover.
Should I avoid alcohol before my massage?
It is best to avoid drinking heavily before a massage so you can fully feel and enjoy the benefits. A light glass of wine is fine — and is part of our Sunset, Wine & Massage experience. Afterwards, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
